Orbit Research Introduces iBill Talking Banknote Identifier
Priced at $99, the iBill is a breakthrough in independent living for
the blind and visually impaired
WILMINGTON, Del., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Orbit Research today
announced the introduction of the iBill, the world's first affordable
Talking Banknote Identifier for the blind and the visually impaired.
Priced at $99, the 1.5 ounce, pager-sized iBill represents a
breakthrough in enabling the blind and the visually impaired
community achieve independence in the everyday necessity of using
paper currency, which sighted people take for granted. At about a
third of the cost of existing devices, the iBill offers unrivaled
features, ease of use and accuracy of identification.
The iBill is an exceptionally convenient and affordable solution that
can be used by each and every blind or visually impaired individual.
Measuring just 3 inches by 1.6 inches by 0.7 inches, the ultra-slim
and compact "key-fob" design provides the ultimate in convenience,
allowing it to be carried unobtrusively in a pocket, purse, clipped
to the belt or attached to a keychain or lanyard. Among the features
that set it apart from other such devices are the extremely high
accuracy (better than 99.9%) and the near-instantaneous speed (less
than one second in most cases) with which it identifies banknotes.
The iBill is designed with the sole purpose of providing the
simplest, fastest and most accurate means to identify U.S. banknotes.
Its unique ergonomic design permits easy and intuitive use without
the need for any training or practice. Upon insertion of a banknote
into the device, its denomination is identified at the press of a
button. Based on the user's preference, the denomination is announced
by a clear and natural voice, or by tone or vibration for privacy.
The unit identifies all U.S. banknotes in circulation and recognizes
them in any orientation. Banknotes in poor physical condition are
indicated as unidentifiable and are not misread. The unit is also
upgradeable to recognize new banknote designs.
The iBill achieves all of this while operating on a single, commonly
available AAA battery which lasts for over a year with typical use.
Its durable construction and sealed design ensure trouble-free use.
The unit is backed by a one-year warranty from Orbit Research, and
toll-free customer support.
"Orbit Research has once again demonstrated its commitment to the
development of breakthrough technology and products that make a
direct and measurably positive impact to the daily lives of the
community we serve," said Michael Nolan, President of Orbit Research.
Orbit Research has filed patents on the technologies employed in the
iBill, which enable its groundbreaking compactness, performance and
features.
Samples of the iBill are available for evaluation now and Orbit
Research is accepting orders.

people with disabilities, Orbit Research's mission is to employ
cutting-edge technology to develop innovative and affordable products

Sounds good. I have seen a vibrating note detector, but never heard of a talking one before.
Looks interesting. I only have trouble recognizing my dollar bills. Not sure if I want it though bc I already have a system of folding my money.
it does sound good for sure
i want one!! i wonder if ors will buy it for me?
i want one since i can never be consistant in folding money and i have trouble remembering which is which.
i think i will get that if i go to a convention cause conventions are the time to splurge since my counselor is horrible at doing anything.
i've never been one for the money folding thing, so i want this!
I want one too, considering I'm horrible at the whole folding money concept.
yah brook, I'm horrible about the money folding thing. i rather put the money away all at once and that's it especially when impatient people are waiting in line at a store
I'd love to get one of these. *smiles*
i do know how to fold, only slight problem is knowing what is what bill. that's where i'd love to have one of these as i could just sort out the change after we leave the store or what ever
Buy the iBill. stamp the bills with a braille stamper a few cents. fold all bills in half. go to store. buy your stuff. pull money out and give it tot he checkout person. period end of story none of this hotdog hamburger triangle flag style zigzag folding shit just scan stamp fold and put in pocket. you also benefit other blindies in the future if you stamp your money in the corners should they even come along and the money is in circulation.
This sounds awsome... I hate folding money especially after getting change... Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas since I'm mostly using a Debit card right now but it would totally be awsome to be able to use cash haha!
dang i want one...
I want one too! It's small, fast and accurate! I usually avoid cash because I don't know what is what and hate the folding idea as well. I've got a Note Teller II but it's not something I'd be able to bring out with me, since it can't fit in a pocket and I'm not the type to own let alone carry a pocket book. The closest I come is a fanny pack. However, it's good for at-home use or for people who do carry bags. I recently found it and am interested in selling it for $70 or so, though I'll go as low as $50 if necessary. Mom got it for me about four years ago and it's seen very light use (a few test runs) since then. It's in excellent condition and is in it's original leather case. Please contact me if interested. I've also got a colour identifier from Cobolt, from the same time, that I'm considering to selling for $100 if the newer ones are better and relatively cheap.
I have an Ibill. It's great. Well worth the money. It's read everything I've thrown at it, even worn and crumpled bills. I used to never use cash because it was such a hassle to keep track of what I had. I have no issues now and am happily using cash once again.
Wow! Seriously? It actually reads bills when they're crumpled or warn? Awesome!
Yep. It really works well. The only catch is that you have to get the ind of the bill in without the corners getting bent. Sometimes with an older bill it can be a little tricky but you get the hang of it. New crisp bills are easier to slide in but you can get the worn ones in there too. I haven't found a bill it couldn't read.
I love my i bill! i got one!
OMoby for the iPhone does bills see SeroTalk's podcast. Should work on the new iPod Touch as well. And since it's a camera-based deal you don't have to slide it in anywhere.
Yeah, but not everyone is willing to (or can) pay a huge amount of money for a phone and not everyone likes touch screens. I'd love a very small money identifier myself.
I understand that: I haven't been able to buy the iPod Touch either. Leaving it to the rich people on benefits / our tax dollars to afford 'em, instead of us working stiffs. Just another suggestion is all.
Love love love my Ibill! I can't find one single bad thing to say about it!
exactly!
